Quilling Paper Jewelry - Bubbles Pendant

I wanted to make a gift and thought Ann Martin's Blue Bubbles pendant project from her book, The Art of Quilling Paper Jewelry , struck the right chord – playful sophisticated minimalism! The person I am giving it to admires teal and green, so I paired those two colors with metallic silver. I changed up some of the dimensions to suit my needs and as I made the smallest tight circles with the metallic silver paper, I was dismayed I couldn't achieve the same metallic shimmer that Ann creates using proper silver edge quilling paper.  Although I flattened my tight coils as much as I could, I could still see the rings, and I found it distracting. So I simply hole punched the same metallic sheet of paper, and glued it on top. Not only did it hide the rings and innermost bellybutton hole, I found it showed off more shimmer from the paper naturally.  I hope she'll like it! Update: she was surprised by her Christmas gift, a necklace made specifically for her!

Quilling Letters Tutorial - DEF (how to quill a name or word)

The outlining of letters D, E, and F are somewhat covered by the tutorial techniques shown in my previous videos of A , B , and C . To ensure I don't waste your time repeating myself, this tutorial will show how to bring the letters together to form a word (even though DEF isn't quite a word, unless you're Def Leppard), the same way I did for the cover of my e-book, Quilling Letters . I'm sure you can expand upon what I'm showing to make any name or word, or even a phrase. After printing the outlined letters, use a pencil (and lots of eraser) to draw arcs on top of the template, connecting the letters to give the whole piece cohesiveness. The letters E and F only have straight sides, so I made sure to give them many swirls to soften them up a bit. Going outside the lines of the letters is fun too, and to me, it kind of says "quilling can't be contained!" Just as you've seen me soften the strips to follow the letter outlines, you can now follow yo...

Monica's Picture Frame from Friends - Free SVG Cutting File

If you were a fan of Friends, you'll remember the iconic picture frame placed around the peephole of Monica's apartment door. When I received some real estate calendars in the mail, rather than tossing them out, I thought the fridge magnets would make great picture frames instead. My short video shows how to cover the magnets with vinyl , and how to avoid trapping air bubbles. If you ever have pieces jump off your work surface, getting stuck to the static cling of adhesive vinyl, you'll also see a simple trick to hold it in place. The fridge magnet I received in the mail was 4.25 x 5.5 inches, and my SVG file was sized to about 4 x 5 inches. Download the free SVG cutting file or PDF file here. If you liked this file, I hope you'll leave me a comment below and let me know how it worked for you!

Quilling Letter C - Outline and Fill with Scrolls

A customized monogram says so much, even on a simple gift tag. I love how a loved one reacts when they see their initial. They light up inside and feel special because they know I took the time to make it by hand.  What I love beyond their initial reaction is seeing my creation on their mantel, even years later, because they treasure it that much. My latest  video  shows how to outline and fill the letter C with quick and easy scrolls. This time I decided to glue my letter on a 4x6 inch gift tag – perfect for birthdays, holidays, or any special occasion. Here's a free template i f you'd like to do the same. Anyone who bought my Quilling Letters book can easily replace the letter by matching up the center and baselines. What kind of projects are you making? Are these tutorials helpful to you? What else do you want to see? Let me know in the comments below. Subscribe to my YouTube video channel and be notified when I upload more letters! My new PDF e-book, ...
